Family owned and operated, the tiny "Classic Cafe Off The Square" offers up some pretty interesting sandwiches along with what I like to call sandwich accessories, i.e., homemade lobster bisque, veggie soup, candied popcorn, muffins and more. According to locals in the area, on weekdays the place is packed for lunch which is always a good indicator that the food is affordable, fast and delicious. The thing that really rocked my world was the Cafes classic movie theme, right in line with Sandwich 365's theme. Quite a coincidence since we had no idea what we'd find and walked in off the street due to the quaint store front and signage. I was delighted to see menu items named after classic movies and memorabilia hanging on almost every wall. I had this tasty, toasted made-to-order classic turkey sandwich called the "Key Largo" with fresh Bermuda onion, tomato, lettuce, mayo and cranberries, really delicious. The only thing that would have set it off to perfection and infinity for me would have been to put it on a more rustic and crusty bread right out of the toaster! But I enjoyed every bite in spite of this small detail.

ReplyDeleteIn Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 horror classic "Psycho", Norman Bates invites victim Marion Crane to join him for sandwiches and milk. She accepts and joins him. Where did Norman and Marion sit and eat their sandwiches?
Answer, in his parlor, in the back. =)

ReplyDeleteHi Keri.. Couldn't agree with you more when I stopped at the Classic Cafe Off the Square in Newnan, Georgia.. where I had one of the best sandwiches ever... like you had, a Key Largo. They also serve a great Reuben. I go there whenever I visit Newnan.
ReplyDeleteYes, the Classic Cafe is a quaint, lovely place to have lunch and watch a movie while you are dining! I had the Chicken Salad special and it was good, my husband enjoyed his soup and sandwich which was delicious, too. My father-in-law had the lobster bisque and said it was awesome! Stop by when in Newnan, GA!
